Amanda Seales Debates 20 Black Conservatives In Viral Clip And Eats Them Up With Facts

Seales debunked multiple claims on systemic racism, reparations, and "Black on Black crime."

Amanda Seales refused to back down after getting into a viral debate against 20 Black conservatives.

The comedian and social justice advocate appeared on an episode of Jubilee, a YouTube series that explores provocative topics, ranging from immigration to conservatism. Seales took on a horde of Black conservatives for a conversation ranging from reparations to systemic racism.

One viral clip showed a man trying to discredit Harriet Tubman while also saying Black culture was “toxic” and white supremacy is a myth. The Shade Room re-shared the video.

“Do not bring up Harriet Tubman’s name in vain, baby. Please. Harriet Tubman was literally saving her family and others from slavery,” Seales began, before dismissing the man’s claims that white supremacy is a lie. “If that were not the case, then we wouldn’t see the continued effort of colonialism and white people placing themselves in positions of power when they do not have the power.”

When the conservative man kept making unfounded claims regarding white supremacy and Black culture, Seales proceeded to state how he’s working as an agent for a system that inherently does not help him.

She continued, “You’re carrying a chain around your neck of an apartheid nation that actively wants to harm Black people.”

Seales engaged in additional conversations with conservatives and their polarizing viewpoints. She also addressed the dismissal of Black Americans’ experience by those across the diaspora.

“As the daughter of an immigrant, it is imperative that Black people from other places understand the disparate difference that they exist from Black people in the United States,” Seales said in the video. “It is not the same, period. And ultimately, the best effort that we can do as a diaspora is to lead in understanding, not in judgment. So when I am talking to somebody from Sudan, from the Congo, from Angola, I am listening to understand their experience, not to undermine, and I refuse to allow anybody from Grenada, from Angola, from any other place to come and try to undermine the experience of Black Americans.”

The internet praised the “Insecure” actress for her eloquent articulation. While noting mixed reviews of her debate skills, Seales later reflected on the episode, doubling down on her thoughts about “Black conservatism.”

“The irony about this was that it’s not that I didn’t know how to debate, it’s that I just chose not to debate because the claims that I stated are not up for debate,” she stated on Instagram.

She proceeded to reiterate that concepts such as reparations and systemic racism are not up for debate. Seales also emphasized that “Black on Black crime” is not real, but the “continued proliferation” of this claim does actual harm to the Black community.

The 44-year-old concluded her reflections by noting the contradictions of Black conservatism and how she believes it ultimately does not benefit anyone in the community.

“Black conservatism does not make any concessions or room or care for the working class. Actually, the concept of Black conservatives is literally an oxymoron,” explained Seales. When I walked into that room and I saw the people that were there, and how many of them were young people, I didn’t want to debate them, and I was dealing with people who are deeply affected by indoctrination and by self-hatred. I wanted to show them the ways in which they had been misled to being able to show up for themselves and for their people, and of course, they’re only a portion of this project.”

She concluded, “The true audience is not who you’re debating, but who’s watching and trying to get information and concepts to them that are being actively impeded and that felt far more valuable than just being right.”

Those interested can watch the full video of the debate, which has already garnered over 1.7 million views, below.

Battery Charge Dismissed Against Boxer Gervonta Davis

'This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute,' according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office

In July, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested in Florida after an alleged assault against a former girlfriend, and it has been reported that prosecutors had dropped the domestic violence case on Aug. 12.

According to TMZ Sports, the case against Davis was dismissed after the alleged victim, the mother of his two children, refused to press charges against the boxer. The arrest took place July 11 as police officers took him into custody on a misdemeanor battery charge.

The victim’s mother also refused to cooperate with the district attorney’s office, leading to the charges being withdrawn against Davis.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office confirmed the action to the media outlet.

“This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute per her victim attorney, Lindsey Chase, Esq. and her sentiments we directly confirmed by the Assistant State Attorney handling the prosecution. The witness to the incident, who is the victim’s mother, also failed to cooperate and failed to appear after being subpoenaed for a pre-file conference on Thursday, 8/7. Followed up attempts to contact the witness (mother) via phone were unsuccessful.” “The incident itself was not observed by the police officer who had been called to the scene, eliminating him as a possible witness to what had transpired.”

An incident report stated that Davis’ former girlfriend told police officers that the two were involved in a verbal altercation over “personal matters and Gervonta having insecurities about the sexuality of their son.”

On June 15, after the boxer arrived at her residence to pick up their children, the situation was elevated, and after he placed both children in his car, he allegedly punched her “on the rear of her head with a closed fist” and also slapped her in the face.

She took the children back, which made Davis angrier with her. She stated that he revved the engine of his car in a threatening manner, but she was able to extricate herself from the situation without further incident. She went to the local hospital for medical treatment.

Tiffany Haddish Tears Up Over Past Homelessness As She Buys Groceries For Victims Of California Wildfires

Haddish remembered struggling to afford groceries as she helped victims of the wildfires purchase food.

Tiffany Haddish got emotional recalling her experience with homelessness while helping victims of the California wildfires.

Haddish helped donate nearly $100,000 toward groceries for families affected by the January wildfires in California. The money benefited victims of the Eaton Fire, which hurt Black and brown families in the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Altadena and Pasadena. Hollywood Unlocked re-shared footage of the giveaway that took place Aug. 8 in Altadena’s Super King Market.

Haddish appeared at the event as hundreds poured into the store to grab the necessary items. She started to get choked up remembering her own experience trying to buy food.

“I remember being homeless, I remember not having food,” she tearfully recalled. “I know how hard it is when I come to buy groceries, and it’s like I only buy like 10 items, and it’s almost 100 bucks. I’m just thinking to myself, how are people surviving?”

While Haddish has found fame and success in Hollywood, she has not forgotten her life before this point.

“I know how hard it is to feed a family, the stress of it, and the cost for food today is ridiculous,” she added. “It makes me so mad. I’m a human being, and I need to eat too, and I like to buy my own food, and I’ll pay for everybody in line behind me.”

The actress and comedian covered up to $150 in groceries for each person displaced by the fires. She says the total amounted to nearly $100,000. However, Haddish called upon her celebrity friends to help cover the lofty bill. She tagged a-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio, Nia Long, and D.L. Hughley, while also joking about collaborator Kevin Hart.

“I called every rich friend to help me,” she told KTLA.

Haddish continues to give back to people whose situations she deeply empathizes with. As the aftermath of the fires wages on, she accomplished her goal to feed some families and serve up love during her grocery giveaway.

“Just wanted to bring some joy, heal some bellies. You know, I was like, fill up some refrigerators. I’m so excited and so happy and so honored that God gave me the ability to bring together people, to feed them, to make life easier for them.”

Controversial South Fulton Mayor Vying To Keep Seat As He Announces Re-Election Run

Kamau has been the subject of multiple mis-spending accusations and subsequent audits.

The mayor of South Fulton in Atlanta has announced his re-election bid despite several controversies plaguing his tenure.

Khalid Kamau previously stated in April that he would not seek another term amid his audit scandals. However, Mayor Kamau appears to have reversed his decision.

While at South Fulton City Hall on Aug. 18, Kamau shared his plans to fight to keep his seat. During the press conference, he emphasized his accomplishments as mayor, such as growing the city’s budget and building a real-time crime center.

“And I just want people to imagine. If I can do all of this with a council in opposition every step of the way, imagine what I can do, what we can do, if you send me back to that office, and send me back with a supportive council,” he stated, according to 11Alive.

He noted that he was able to accomplish these things for South Fulton residents despite the supposed opposition. Several council members raised questions on Kamau’s alleged mis-spending. The criticism prompted audits of Kamau’s purchases, leading to discoveries of years-long potential misuse of city resources.

Despite Kamau wanting to focus on his plans for South Fulton, his controversial leadership thus far remains a sore point. When confronted about how he expects residents to trust him again, Kamau stated that “card issues” occurred across Atlanta.

However, Kamau was investigated over international trips and office expenditures that many considered excessive. This included flights to Ghana and a pricey pool table for his office, with tensions escalating between the mayor and council members in 2025.

While the audit was ongoing, Kamau stated publicly that he would not run again. However, he believes that he has more to do for the city despite the questionable spending habits.

“We have brought so much stability to the city of South Fulton, and we just want to keep the city moving forward,” he added, according to WSB-TV.

One of the council members, Carmalitha Gumbs, has entered her name in the race for mayor. The city’s first mayor, Bill Edwards, also hopes to reclaim his seat.

Halle Bailey Recognized By City of Los Angeles For Maternal Health Advocacy

Halle Bailey is being celebrated for sharing her postpartum journey and uplifting other new moms.

The City of Los Angeles is honoring Halle Bailey for using her platform to speak up about maternal health by sharing her postpartum journey.

The Little Mermaid star took center stage at Project Pit’s first-ever Maternal Health Summit on Aug. 16, where she and Faith Evans were honored for their advocacy in support of women and maternal health.

“Hii everyone 💕i just want to thank the City of Los Angeles and @projectpit for this incredible honor,” Bailey captioned an Instagram post. “To be recognized for speaking up about maternal health and my own postpartum journey is really humbling ❤️just a reminder that vulnerability is not a weakness, it’s the bridge that connects us all.”

The city’s recognition comes more than a year after Bailey revealed on Snapchat that she was battling “severe” postpartum depression following the 2023 birth of her son Halo, an admission that sparked widespread support and opened the door to candid conversations among new moms.

“I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad, and it’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out,” she said.

After her reveal, fans and fellow moms filled her Instagram comments with words of encouragement and personal stories from their postpartum journeys.

“I didn’t feel normal in my own body until like over a year after my baby,” one mom wrote.

“Thank you for your words on postpartum. For using your voice to speak not only on your experience but that of so many mothers,” added another.

Bailey was celebrated for using her platform to raise awareness about postpartum depression. At the same time, Evans was honored for founding Ryder’s Room, a nonprofit organization that supports children and families with disabilities and special needs. Held at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, the Project Pit event was a free, one-day gathering focused on raising awareness and advancing solutions for maternal health challenges, particularly in Black and brown communities.

“One thing that we have realized is it is a growing fear when a Black woman goes in to give birth,” said Creative Director Maryam Dorsey. “When we go and we give life, we are also risking our lives.”

The summit featured educational panels, relaxation spaces, kids’ play areas, and a community baby shower, hosted in partnership with It’s Bigger Than Us LA, that offered free diapers, baby formula, wipes, new breast pumps, and other essentials.

“A lot of women are afraid,” Dorsey said. “Sometimes insurance is a barrier, finances are a barrier, so to be able to be able to come somewhere for completely free and be able to get those resources, I mean, it’s indescribable.”

Nicole Collier, Texas

Texas Rep. Nicole Collier Sleeps On House Floor In Dignity Protest

Collier said "absolutely not" after House Speaker Dustin Burrows announced Democrats would not be permitted to leave the chamber unless they agreed to have a DPS escort.

Talk about standing your ground! Texas Democratic Rep. Nicole Collier decided to spend the night on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives after refusing to sign a document that would assign her a police escort that would monitor her every move after Democratic leaders returned to the state amid an ongoing redistricting battle with Republicans, WFAA 8 reports.

The former chair of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, who represents a majority-minority district, was all set to sleep peacefully with her bonnet, sleeping mask, pillow, and blanket in protest to what she described as intimidation tactics. Collier was one of several lawmakers on the blue side of the aisle who fled to Chicago, New York, and Massachusetts as a preventative measure to stall a special legislative session that would force a gerrymandering vote to redraw state congressional maps.

As a consequence, House Speaker Dustin Burrows announced Democrats who left would not be permitted to leave the chamber unless they agreed to having a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) escort. Collier said absolutely not.

“My constituents sent me to Austin to protect their voices and rights. I refuse to sign away my dignity as a duly elected representative just so Republicans can control my movements and monitor me with police escorts,” Collier said, according to CNN

“My community is majority-minority, and they expect me to stand up for their representation. When I press that button to vote, I know these maps will harm my constituents — I won’t just go along quietly with their intimidation or their discrimination.”

Burrows unsuccessfully signed civil arrest warrants for fleeing Democrats, but DPS officers couldn’t carry them out since lawmakers were out of their jurisdiction. A majority of leaders signed the permission slips to leave, but Collier wasn’t buying it. She is now only allowed to return to her office, but will need to be supervised by an officer.

An aide highlighted that some state leaders, including Reps. Gene Wu and Vince Perez have made plans to keep Collier company, providing snacks such as dried peaches, freeze-dried grapes, popcorn, and ramen, as they have some long nights ahead.

As her protest has gone viral, Collier addressed the concerns from constituents and voters across America who feel she is being held captive against her will. In another video she posted, Collier thanked those who have continued to stand with her and resisting against moves from the state’s Republican leadership. “Continue to resist and let them know that you won’t back done and that you demand fair representation and fair maps,” she said.

Current and former state leaders celebrated the seven-term lawmaker and condemned the moves of GOP members. “As a former Texas State Rep, let me be clear: LOCKING Rep. Nicole Collier inside the chamber is beyond outrageous,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett wrote on X.

“Forcing elected officials to sign ‘permission slips’ and take police escorts to leave? That’s not procedure. That’s some old Jim Crow playbook. Texas Republicans have lost their damn minds.”

Former Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke called Collier “a true hero” as a news personality shared a powerful photo of her being the sole person left in chambers. “A true hero, refusing to submit, fighting these fascists by herself if she has to,” he wrote.

“We are with you, Nicole!”

Nikole Hannah-Jones Claps Back At Jillian Michaels’ Slavery Remarks ‘Historically Accurate Diss Track’

Nikole Hannah-Jones won't sit by and allow Jillian Michaels to spread "harmful nonsense" about the painful realities of slavery.

Nikole Hannah-Jones is sounding off in response to Jillian Michaels’ recent claims that “less than 2% of white Americans owned slaves.”

The 1619 Project creator took to Instagram Aug. 18 for an impromptu history lesson in response to Michaels’s controversial statements during a recent panel on CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip. According to Hannah-Jones, the times are “far too dangerous” to allow “harmful nonsense” to spread in ways that legitimize “the erasure of our history.”

“I have to first state that the times are far too serious and dangerous for us to lend our platforms to harmful nonsense,” Hannah-Jones said at the start of her nearly eight-minute video. “It’s simply irresponsible with everything that’s happening in this country to have someone as credentialess as Jillian Michaels on a major network show legitimizing the erasure of our history.”

Hannah-Jones criticized the “right-wing framing” in Michaels’s Aug. 14 remarks, which claimed that “less than 2% of white Americans owned slaves” and that “slavery is thousands of years old.” Before breaking down the claims, the investigative journalist cautioned her followers that what she was about to share would be ‘a lot.’

“You see, this is how numbers and data, though technically true, can also be lies,” Hannah-Jones said. “And this is why we can’t let bad faith actors set the parameters of the debate or of our collective understanding.”

While Michaels’ claim was “technically incorrect,” Hannah-Jones took it into account when making a modern-day comparison to the percentage of Americans who own social media or technology companies. While only a small number, Hannah-Jones noted the large influence they can have on America as a whole.

“It’s a tiny percentage. I’m doubtful if it’s even 1% of Americans. And yet no one would credibly argue that social media companies are not ubiquitous across American life, that they don’t play a major influence on our political, social, and economic life in America,” she explained.

Before bringing the modern example back to her focus on slavery, Hannah-Jones also noted how most of the owners of major American tech companies are “amongst the wealthiest in the world and demonstrate how a small cadre of super wealthy men can have an outsized impact on American politics and culture.”

“So if we want to play the numbers game, the much more important measure is what percentage of Americans owned slaves? No. But what percentage of those in power did?” Hannah-Jones said.

Hannah-Jones countered Michaels’s remarks with historical evidence, pointing out that multiple U.S. presidents, members of Congress, Supreme Court justices, and even every figure featured on American currency were enslavers. She also highlighted how cotton, produced through slave labor, accounted for half of U.S. exports at the time, and how wealthy white enslavers built banks and businesses on the backs of slavery.

By the Civil War, the U.S. held the largest enslaved population in the world. Hannah-Jones argued that Michaels’s attempt to minimize these truths disregards the lived experiences of enslaved people and their descendants and undermines an honest acknowledgment of America’s history.

“This is simply undeniable. Without slavery, our nation would be unrecognizable to us. We cannot let them choose the parameters of the conversation in order to obfuscate the truth. That is disinformation,” Hannah-Jones said.

“And the times are too serious for us to proliferate a simplistic, unsophisticated, and childish understanding of the history of slavery in the United States because they are using this mythology to justify erasing our history because they want to erase our rights.”

Her video response came just days after Michaels appeared on CNN, where she defended Donald Trump’s call for a review of Smithsonian exhibits to ensure they “celebrate American exceptionalism, remove divisive or partisan narratives, and restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions.” Michaels argued that many U.S. museum exhibits unfairly link “imperialism, racism, and slavery to just one race.”

Hannah-Jones, however, wasn’t about to let that narrative slide.

LinkedIn Reveals Its Ranking Of The Top HBCUs For Alumni Success

These HBCUs have proven themselves to come with pathways to success long after one earns their degree.

LinkedIn has rolled out its ranking of the top HBCUs for alumni success.

With student enrollment on the rise and breaking records, the success of HBCU students after graduation has garnered significant attention. LinkedIn has revealed its list of the top 10 historically Black institutions that boast the highest alumni success rates.

The professional networking platform’s methodology consisted of numerous factors, such as employment success and career outcomes of alumni. LinkedIn used its data to configure job placement rates, senior-level roles, undergraduate internships, and alumni entrepreneurship stemming from each HBCU. The way these HBCUs ultimately prepare and lead their graduates to long-term career success also played a major role in their ranking.

Howard University took the No. 1 spot among all institutions, with the school noted for its research opportunities and career development. Upon hearing the news, the university’s president spoke about how a Howard education continues to shape future leaders.

“Howard University’s recognition as the top-ranked HBCU by LinkedIn is a powerful testament to the strength of our academic community and the global readiness of our graduates,” said Ben Vinson III, Ph.D., president of Howard University, according to a press release shared by Yahoo Finance.

He added, “It reflects the intentionality behind our holistic model of education — one that combines academic rigor, faculty excellence, and real-world engagement. At Howard, we are cultivating leaders who are not only prepared to meet the challenges of today but are poised to shape the future across industries and around the world.”

Following Howard was Morehouse College. The all-male institution, based in Atlanta, boasts famous alumni such as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as numerous Fortune 500 executives. The all-women’s school, Spelman College, rounded out the top 3 within the Atlanta University Center. Its sisterhood continues to uplift Black women in leadership across multiple sectors.

North Carolina A&T also made the list at No. 4, with the largest HBCU in the U.S. producing graduates who go on to lead corporate industries. Hampton University gained the No. 5 spot, with Tuskegee, Florida A&M, Clark Atlanta, Xavier, and Morgan State following.

As college costs reach new heights, ensuring a good deal on the back end remains a priority. These HBCUs have proven themselves to come with pathways to success long after one earns a degree.

‘KNIGGA’ Caps Are Now Available After White College Football Rookie Announces Sale

1st year player, Noah Knigga, decides to capitalize on the controversial spelling of his last name

A freshman college football player, Noah Knigga, may be a good player, but has gotten more recognition because of his last name, and he is now capitalizing on it even more by selling baseball caps with just his last name in block letters, KNIGGA.

Knigga is a first-year player for the Eastern Michigan University football team at the linebacker position. Most people who may have heard of him, outside of his native hometown of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, were introduced to him because of his last name, or at least, the spelling of it. Although he has spoken publicly of the correct pronunciation of his last name, which is Ka-Nay-Guh, many people, due to the widely known racial slur, interpret that the football player’s last name is pronounced the same way as n**ga.

However, it seemingly does not matter to him, knowing that many people mispronounce his last name. The freshman linebacker has decided to use his last name to capitalize on it. He announced the sale of the merchandise on his social media platform.

https://twitter.com/KniggaNoah/status/1954541064519373055

The “KNIGGA 10 DAD” baseball cap is being sold for $49.

“CELEBRATING THE LAUNCH OF NOAH KNIGGA’S COLLEGIATE CAREER AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT EMU,” reads a description on the website where the item can be purchased.

The reaction to the merchandise being sold reveals what many people think about the supposed audacity of spreading the misconception that some may interpret, as opposed to simply supporting the football player. Some of the posts are a mix of amazement and shock, with funny reactions and people not believing someone would sell a baseball cap seemingly referencing the “hood” version of the racial epithet.

https://twitter.com/Porkchop__2007/status/1954690076497301909

The sale of the cap has just started, but based on some people’s response to the merchandise, it may become a sold-out item.

Viral ‘Burger King Mom’ Terminated For Tardiness Despite Working An Entire Shift Alone

The young mother of three expressed how she has been feeling overwhelmed emotionally as well.

The woman nicknamed “Burger King Mom” for working an entire shift by herself at the fast-food chain has had an unfortunate update.

Nykia Hamilton went viral after a customer recorded her as the sole person working at a Burger King location in Columbia, South Carolina. However, she has since informed her new following that she lost that very job.

Hamilton tearfully explained to TikTok why Burger King fired her. The single mother of three says it was due to her lateness caused by her children.

@kianolabel The devil won i don’t care no more I can’t do this no more just leave me alone ##burgerkingmom #fyp #fyp #singlemomof3 ♬ original sound – Mk adventures

“Bruh [Burger King] fired me because I’ve been late because of my kids,” explained the 25-year-old. “My kids come first. Y’all don’t pay for no babysitter, or nothing.”

She then called out naysayers who criticized the jewelry she wore, revealing that the items actually came from the fast-fashion store SHEIN. However, the growing issues took a toll on the young mom, leaving her in more distress as the video went on.

“I’m already aggravated, I’m already depressed, all of this mental shit, and motherf— f— with me, so leave me alone,” she added. “I ain’t want no fame, no money, none of this s—.”

Hamilton first gained the internet’s attention and sympathy in July. The original viral clip showed the women taking over the entire restaurant after a co-worker quit mid-shift. She kept up with the drive-thru and front counter, all while also cleaning and preparing the meals.

Hamilton told local news outlets about how the job impacted her personal life as well. She emphasized how the Burger King gig took time away from her children while she was trying to provide for them.

“I be missing out on my kids’ lives when I work so much,” Hamilton told WACH News. “I have to provide for them, but I really don’t have time to spend with them—and it hurts me a lot.”

Hamilton then launched a GoFundMe for those wanting to help out as she raises her children. She raised her original goal of $60,000 to $70,000 after thousands chipped in to her cause.

However, the firing and backlash on the internet continue to hurt the “Burger King Mom,” leaving her still upset.

“My mind is already f–cked up. I’m trying to keep pushing for my kids but I cannot do this sh-t no more. The devil been on my back bad…I promise you he won,” she continued in the video.

Supporters offered her words of encouragement, reminding her that a better future is on the way. Donors to her GoFundMe also continue to provide support.
