Mayweather said America “didn’t appreciate him” during his first term, which ran from 2017 to 2021. “I think Trump is a great President…actually he’s the best president in my eyes. He’s the best president we’ve ever had,” Mayweather said.
“He’s a great businessman and that’s what it’s about.”
The undefeated boxing champ has never shied away from supporting Trump, attending his first inauguration in 2017.
Mayweather’s praise comes even though Trump, now in his second term, has been in office less than 60 days and after a wave controversial moves made by him and right-hand man Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency. This includes laying off a raft of federal employees with little notice and dismantling DEI initiatives.
“A lot of people around America are upset but no matter who goes in the White House, we’re always upset and I think Trump is the man for the job,” Mayweather explained. “He’s the best president in my eyes.”
His comments caught the attention of MAGA and other Trump supporters.
“Great recognizes Great… let’s be honest, it’s only 1 month in and he’s flipped the entire story upside down,” @yaboysul wrote. “He’s gotta try to F this one up to not be considered one of the greatest comeback story of all time.”

“I expect more famous people will start coming out supporting President Trump. Everyone loves a winner and winning,” @thegeneral_0 said. Other comments, according to the Irish Star, alluded to Mayweather finally “calling out the truth” while being a “legend.”

British health leaders warn that if the virus continues to spread uncontrolled, it could pose a “significant public health threat.”
“There is a huge amount of uncertainty about this outbreak,” Dr. Michael Head, a senior research fellow at the University of Southampton told the publication. “Outbreaks like this will happen many times around the world and are typically brought under control relatively quickly.”
The concerning element here, Head added, is that there have been hundreds of reported cases and 50 deaths so far.
“The lack of healthcare infrastructure in the DRC means the public health response is more complicated,” Head explained. “However, the country has had mpox and Ebola outbreaks in recent times, so they are experienced at addressing infectious disease epidemics.”
The symptoms mimic Hemorrhagic Fever Diseases (HFDs), a group of infectious diseases caused by viruses that damage blood vessels and lead to bleeding from the eyes, mouth, and ears. Ebola, Marburg, and Lassa Fever all fall in the HFD category. So far, Ebola and Marburg tests have reportedly returned negative.
Other symptoms, according to health leaders, include fever, vomiting, and internal bleeding. The virus can be spread by touching or handling the bodily fluids of an infected person, contaminated objects, or infected wild animals.
In the meantime, WHO health teams are investigating other potential causes, including malaria, food poisoning, typhoid, meningitis, and other diseases.
Alleged Serial Killer Responsible For 8.6% Of Montgomery Killings In 2024
Damien McDaniel, 22, has been charged and is currently held with no bond.
An Alabama man was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 26, and charged with allegedly killing at least 14 people and shooting 29 others in Birmingham over the past year and a half.
On its Facebook page, the Birmingham Police Department announced in multiple posts that an arrest warrant was issued for 22-year-old Damien McDaniel of Fairfield for the murders of Birmingham firefighter Jordan Melton, Mia Nickson, and Anthony Lamar Love Jr.
In a follow-up entry, the police department revealed that McDaniel was arrested along with another suspect in one of the deaths, 41-year-old Charles Nance of Pinson.
WRBC 6 News reported that McDaniel was indicted on 37 felony counts for five different shootings over three months in 2024. He is one of several defendants involved in the mass shooting in Five Points South and the mass shooting at Trendsetters Lounge.
Before the recent charges, he was accused of killing 11 and shooting 29 people.
Birmingham Police said the recent capital murder charges related to the killing of Nickson and Love are murder-for-hire cases. McDaniel is being held without bond at the Alabama Department of Corrections at Kilby Correctional Facility.
“We were aware that there was further investigations going on that were separate from the pending cases,” John Robbins, McDaniels said in a statement, according to WVTM 13. “So, we are not too surprised by the additional charges.
“The defense team will not be deterred from providing our client with a vigorous defense that our system of justice demands. The defense team understands and appreciates the pain and suffering that the family and friends of all the victims have experienced and will continue to experience as these cases play out in court. We are not blind to that aspect of any homicide case.”
According to AL.com, if McDaniel is found guilty of 13 homicides that occurred in 2024, McDaniel will have personally been responsible for 8.6% of the 152 violent deaths in Birmingham last year.
Last year, Birmingham police announced that McDaniel was being charged in the killing of Diontronet Brown Sept. 19 and for the deaths of Tahj Booker, Carlos McCain, Anitra Holloman, and Roderick Patterson in the Five Points South mass shooting Sept. 21. Then, the very next day, Jamarcus McIntyre was killed and McDaniel was charged with the death.
In October 2024, McDaniel was charged with killing Markeshia Gettings, Stevie McGhee, Angela Weatherspoon, and Lerandus Anderson at the Trendsetter Lounge on July 13 as well as the death of Charlie Moore in his apartment on Aug. 13.
How Entrepreneurs Can Leverage the DOGE ‘What Did You Do Last Week?’ Email for Growth
For entrepreneurs, the now infamous email can be a motivational tool.
One unexpected tool that can help small business owners stay accountable is the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) now infamous ‘What Did You Do Last Week?’ email. While some may see it as an unnecessary bureaucratic check-in, wise entrepreneurs can turn it into a robust accountability system that drives consistent action and results.
Entrepreneurs often dream of the freedom of running their businesses—no boss, rigid schedules, or micromanagement. However, as legendary sales and business mentors emphasize, this freedom is also the biggest challenge. Entrepreneurs frequently struggle with self-management, which is why accountability is crucial.
The Entrepreneur’s Self-Management Problem
Many entrepreneurs are terrible bosses—to themselves. A well-known business mentor famously said, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” Yet, when no one is watching, letting things slide is easy. Entrepreneurs must create their structure, unlike traditional employees, who have managers who set deadlines.
A key principle of success teaches that successful entrepreneurs don’t just rely on motivation; they rely on systems of accountability that ensure progress whether they feel like working or not. The DOGE email can be a blessing in disguise. Instead of treating it as an annoying task, entrepreneurs should use it to track their actions, measure productivity, and refine their approach to success.
Here’s how you can transform this simple email into an accountability powerhouse:
1. Use It to Build the Habit of Reflection
Many small business owners are so caught up in the day-to-day grind that they don’t take time to assess progress. A well-known thought leader in personal development often emphasized the importance of thinking time—evaluating what’s working and what’s not. The DOGE email forces you to pause and ask, “Did I move my business forward last week?”
Action Step: Treat this email as a built-in weekly business review. Before responding each week, list your key wins, challenges, and next steps.
2. Turn It into a Self-Management System
One of the greatest lessons in entrepreneurship is that entrepreneurs must manage themselves like employees—setting expectations and holding themselves accountable. If you struggle with consistency, use the DOGE email to set clear objectives.
Action Step: Before the week starts, write down three to five key goals. At the end of the week, compare your progress to those goals and use that as the foundation for your response.
3. Use It as a Motivation Tool
A famous motivational speaker once said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Seeing progress, even small wins, builds momentum. If you consistently document your weekly accomplishments, you’ll start noticing patterns—what’s working, what’s not, and where you excel.
Action Step: Keep a running log of all your “What Did You Do Last Week?” responses. Review it monthly to track growth and adjust your strategy.
4. Identify Time Wasters and Productivity Killers
It’s easy to stay busy but not productive. The 80/20 rule reminds us that 80% of results come from 20% of activities. The DOGE email can help you pinpoint whether you’re spending time on income-generating activities or just busy work.
Action Step: If you consistently struggle to report meaningful progress, ask yourself: Am I focusing on high-impact activities? If not, it’s time to shift priorities.
5. Leverage It for Business Growth and Scaling
A disciplined entrepreneur is a scalable entrepreneur. If you ever plan to expand, hire employees, or attract investors, demonstrating a consistent track record of progress is invaluable. Treating this email as a performance log builds a habit of structured reporting, which will be essential as you grow.
Action Step: Use your weekly responses to create a progress report to help you secure funding, pitch partnerships, or make key business decisions.
Final Thoughts: Turn Accountability into a Competitive Advantage
Most entrepreneurs resist external accountability. The greatest business minds knew that the most successful business owners embraced it. The DOGE email is not just a government formality—it’s an opportunity. An opportunity to track, measure, and grow your business with more consistency and discipline than your competitors.
Use it as a tool to sharpen your focus, improve your productivity, and ultimately build a business that thrives. After all, what gets measured gets improved. The question is—what did you do last week? And more importantly, how will you make next week even better?
The White House Says Jaguar Wright Is A ‘Defender Of Freedom’
The award was presented to Jaguar Wright by Gen. Micheal Flynn.
Jacqueline “Jaguar” Wright received the “Defender of Freedom” award at the “Celebrate American Exceptionalism” gala. Wright is among many Black individuals invited to participate in the Trump administration’s Black History Month celebration at the White House.
While Wright’s specific contributions toward liberating and advancing American freedoms remain unclear, she was honored with the award nonetheless. Gen. Michael Flynn presented the award to Wright.
Wright has been in the news over the past year as a former member of the music industry, frequently garnering attention for her viral moments. Many of these moments have centered around her outspoken criticism of industry heavyweights. Her claims of pedophilia and sexual abuse against embattled music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs have kept her in the public eye, making her a fixture on various internet podcasts.
Wright’s claims are often unsubstantiated, yet many outlets promote the former music artist and her claims. Recently, Piers Morgan issued an on-air apology and retraction after Wright spoke on his show.
There, she claimed both Jay-Z and his superstar wife, Beyoncé, were “monsters” and that they also have as many victims as Combs.
“For four years, I’ve been screaming not just Diddy, but Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters,” she said.
Wild claims made by the singer are not the only things keeping her in the headlines.BLACK ENTERPRISE reported on Wright’s arrest in June 2024. In Dallas, Wright was arrested and charged with “property theft between $30,000 and $150,000” and released on June 7 after a $10,000 bond was posted.
Despite the arrest, the singer maintained her innocence. She discussed the incident in an interview with the Sean Davie Way Show on YouTube.
“Whatever they’re saying it is, it’s not,” Wright said. “They can’t hold me, there’s no charge,” she said.
Project sWish Hosts ‘28 Hours of Peace Lock-In’ To Honor Founder’s Birthday
Project sWish hosted its third annual Lock In event.
Project sWish held its third annual “Lock In” event,, a “28 Hours of Peace” non-violence experience that kept young men off the streets and on the basketball court.
The free event, held Feb. 22 in Chicago, celebrated founder McKinley Nelson’s 28th birthday. The event focused on empowering young Black men through meaningful discussions, skill-building workshops, and creative expression.
Attendees took part in programs and conversations focused on healing, education, career development, and personal growth in an effort to equip them with the tools necessary to make positive impacts in their communities.
Event highlights included career readiness workshops, financial literacy and leadership development sessions.
“Turning 28 is a blessing and a milestone, but for too many young men in Chicago, reaching this age isn’t guaranteed,” Nelson said in a press release. “Nothing makes me more proud than to celebrate another year of life by using my platform to impact and create opportunities for my peers and the next generation.”
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois sponsored the event.
“Project sWish’s dedication to transforming lives in our community remains unwavering,” said Tiffany Davis, executive director of quality improvement & health equity at Blue Cross Blue Shield. “Their work providing safe spaces, mentorship, and holistic health resources is truly life-changing, and why we continue to be a faithful supporter of this organization.”
Ahead of the event, he shared his vision for the initiative with ABC 7 Chicago. Project sWish was a response to the friends he made through a shared love of basketball who he later lost to gun violence.
”It’s an organization we developed to use basketball to combat the violence,” said Nelson.
The lock-in events have become synonymous with his birthdays and feature players coming together for hours of games and impactful programs.
”It keeps growing more and more every year,” Nelson said.
Local thought leaders and public figures showed their support and participation for this year’s Lock-In, poet J. Ivy; actors LaRoyce Hawkins and Ahmad Ferguson; financial entrepreneur and media personality Ross Mac; former NBA All-Star and Chicago native Antoine Walker; and civic engagement leader Chris Crater.
Slutty Vegan Shuts Down Spelman College Location, Student Poll Selects Twisted Taco To Take Its Place
The campus spot opened in August 2023.
The Spelman student body has spoken, and Twisted Taco will return to the college after Slutty Vegan closed its on-campus location.
The esteemed HBCU will permanently close its on-campus Slutty Vegan location and return Twisted Taco to a new spot, 11 Alive reports. This change follows the results of a student poll conducted by the school’s dining advisory board.
Slutty Vegan’s removal was swift, with the announcement coming one day ahead of its final day of operation on Feb. 26, an Instagram post revealed. The school’s Twisted Taco location will return on March 17.
The school’s Communications Specialist reached out to BLACK ENTERPRISE to confirm it was Slutty Vegan that decided to close the location and not the school.
“The restaurant notified the College on Monday, February 24, that they would be closing the campus location, effective February 26, 2025,” said Brijea Daniel, Communications Specialist at Spelman College. “A recent student poll showed the Twisted Taco as a preference for students.”
Slutty Vegan was at Spelman for two years. The popular Atlanta-based food chain still operates multiple locations throughout Georgia and is expanding nationwide.
To make the on-campus location possible, Spelman College partnered with Bon Appétit to create the new dining experience, 11 Alive reported in August 2023.
Founded in 2018, founder Pinky Cole Hayes, a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, gained nationwide attention with her fast-causal restaurant approach and serving vegan burgers, fries, and sandwiches with bold, provocative names. Her approach made plant-based eating accessible and exciting, paving the way for Black-owned restaurants to make their mark in the vegan food scene.
Since scaling Slutty Vegan and growing its brand recognition, Cole has used her platform to support philanthropic endeavors, including sponsored proms, support for emerging Black-owned businesses, and social justice initiatives.
While Cole is recognized as a business powerhouse and thought leader in the Black community, members of the Spelman community have expressed their approval of Slutty Vegan’s exit from the HBCU campus.
”This is a win for the AUC community,” one person wrote on Instagram.
”Praise be to God,” added someone else.
One student said they “couldn’t be happier” with the news.
NY AG Letitia James Announces DoorDash Will Deliver $17M To Workers Forced To Use Tips To Cover Wages
The company allegedly guaranteed delivery workers a base pay for each delivery but failed to factor in tips.
Food delivery app DoorDash will have to pay New York-based workers nearly $17 million for unfairly using customer tips to cover its workers’ wages, rather than letting drivers keep tips in addition to their set pay, The Associated Press reported.
During a news conference on Feb. 24, state Attorney General Letitia James said the company allegedly guaranteed delivery workers a base pay for each delivery but failed to factor in tips between May 2017 and September 2019.
As a result, DoorDash cut workers’ pay short, paying workers for whatever the tips didn’t cover. James called the move “fundamentally unfair,” while claiming DoorDash didn’t make it clear to customers that tips would be used to offset worker wages. “Customers had no reason to believe that these tips were being used by DoorDash to reduce its costs,” she said.
As a result, the company settled to pay out $16.75 million to more than 60,000 eligible workers, with each one receiving up to $14,000, according to The Washington Post. Eleven million orders were placed through DoorDash during the time period listed in the settlement. After the company ended the seemingly controversial practice in 2019, the company still received backlash as the secret practice “misled their customers and shortchanged the very people who made their business model possible,” James continued.
Delivery worker and member of the Worker Justice Project’s Los Deliveristas Unidos, William Medina, labeled the settlement as a recognition of “our humanity, our labor and our dignity.”
“We proved that we are not just numbers on their platform,” he said at the news conference. “We are a powerful, essential workforce.”
However, DoorDash continues to argue that their “practices properly represented how Dashers were paid during this period” but stated they are “pleased to have resolved this years-old matter and look forward to continuing to offer a flexible way for millions of people to reach their financial goals.” James, who is set as an administrator, will oversee how the funds are dispersed, contact potential beneficiaries, and set up a website for delivery workers to learn more about how to apply for a share of the settlement money.
The Democratic litigator has established herself as an advocate of the people of New York, fighting for citizens she feels have been wronged by big business. In addition to several other major lawsuits, James once sued SiriusXM Radio over accusations of intentionally making it difficult for customers to cancel their subscriptions. An investigation found customers would be pushed to keep their subscriptions — ultimately keeping money in Sirius’ pockets — after having to wait a long period of time to speak to an agent.
Black Middle Class, Built By Federal Labor, Under Threat Amid Budget Cuts
Black middle class built through federal labor is at risk amid sweeping budget cuts.
For decades, federal employment has provided the Black middle class with stability and a pathway to building wealth. Now, sweeping federal budget cuts threaten this key avenue for economic ascent.
Federal employment has long provided Black Americans with stable, well-paying jobs that help alleviate racial bias and discrimination, while offering pathways for professional and financial growth. With nearly 20% of federal workers identifying as Black, according to an OPM report, many Black federal workers have used government jobs to rise out of poverty and enter the middle class.
However, sweeping cuts under the Trump administration, led by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, put this once-reliable path to financial stability at risk.
“The federal workforce was a means to help build Black middle class. It hired Black Americans at a higher rate than private employers,” Sheria Smith, president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 252, which represents the Education Department employees, toldNBC News.
As part of his agenda, President Trump is pushing to shut down the Department of Education, a decision that could have widespread consequences nationwide and deeply impact the Black community, who make up nearly 30% of its workforce, according to a 2024 department report.
The federal staff cuts are drastically impacting the Black percentage of the workforce. Of the 74 department workers who have been let go so far, 60 of them were Black, Smith revealed. At the Department of Health and Human Services, where more than 1,300 new hires were reportedly laid off, Black employees made up 20% of the workforce. Similarly, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, which recently lost 1,000 employees, 24% of the staff are Black.
A Department of Transportation employee in Washington, D.C., who requested anonymity out of fear of losing their job, said multiple colleagues have been dismissed under the pretext of “poor performance.”
“Morale is so low,” he said. “People who should be there are gone. Everyone is nervous about the next shoe dropping.”
The anonymous staffer, who has spent 16 years in the job and was planning to retire in four, now fears the cuts may derail those plans.
“I wanted to do an even 20, maybe even 25. But I have to be honest with myself now: I don’t think I’m going to make it,” he said. “Every indicator is that my head will be chopped off sooner or later. How can anyone be productive with that hanging over you?”
Ros Patterson, a 62-year-old benefits department worker at the Veterans Administration in Cole Valley, Illinois, was informed by phone on Jan. 28 that she had been let go after nearly a year on the job. She was given just 90 minutes to return her company laptop. Despite being abruptly terminated, the longtime Trump supporter doesn’t blame the president — only the way her dismissal was handled.
Patterson is “not bitter. It is what it is. I’m not blaming Trump. My thing is how it happened. I had no time to process anything or get myself together. It’s cold the way it was done,” she said. “You’d expect the government to do better.”
